U.S. Embassy Welcomes eIntern
March 2, 2011
Under the U.S. Department of State Virtual Student Foreign Service (VSFS) program, the U.S. Embassy to the F.S.M. has welcomed its first eIntern. Managed by the Bureau of Information Resource Management’s Office of eDiplomacy, VSFS partners American students with U.S. embassies and consulates abroad to conduct digital diplomacy that reflects the realities of a networked world.
Sarah Blair, a first-year International Relations major at Boston University, connects American and Micronesian students via social media outlet Facebook and a weekly blog. Blair created the Facebook Page Virtual Student Foreign Service: Federated States of Micronesia to serve as an open discussion forum for education, culture, lifestyle, and contemporary issues. Blair’s blog, vsfskolonia, provides a weekly glimpse into life as a U.S. college student through stories and photos.
VSFS eInterns must be U.S. citizens that are full-time or part-time students pursuing an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university.
