U.S. Allocates $115 Million in Compact Grant Assistance to FSM For Fiscal Year 2009

On October 7, the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia agreed to the allocation of $115,864,828 in funding from the United States Government under the Compact of Free Association for the new fiscal year. These allocated funds will be divided monthly during the course of Fiscal Year 2009 among the following compact grant sectors:

| Infrastructure Sector | $48,428,760 |
| Environment Sector | $585,658 |
| Private Development Sector | $1,766,669 |
| Supplemental Education Grant | $11,790,855 |
| TOTAL FUNDING ALLOCATED TO FSM: | $115,864,828 |
Included in the Health Sector amount above is $1,947,620 in Compact funding to assist the FSM in its efforts to contain a recent multi-drug resistant (MDR) outbreak of tuberculosis in the State of Chuuk.
At present, approximately $4.8 million in Compact Sectoral Grant Assistance for Fiscal Year 2009 remains unallocated.
